Menteri Pertahanan, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin, hari ini (kelmarin), menafikan pembabitan beliau dengan penganugerahan kontrak membekalkan Label Keselamatan (security-Labeliing) oleh Jabatan Kastam Di Raja Malaysia kepada syarikat Lembah Sari Sdn Bhd.
Adik Hishammuddin, Datuk Haris Onn Hussein (gambar) dikatakan mempunyai kepentingan dalam Lembah Sari Sdn Bhd yang dianugerahkan kontrak bernilai RM 77 juta bagi kerja-kerja mencetak label keselamatan arak dan bir untuk Jabatan Kastam Di Raja Malaysia julai lalu.
The Edge Malaysia pada 12 September 2014 melaporkan kontrak itu termasuk, “to design, print, store, supply and distribute banderols (tax stamps) for liquor (including beer) between 2014 and 2019. The company would also supply the department with authentication devices and necessary training.”
Hishammuddin said the contract, which was awarded to his brother Haris Onn Hussein by the Royal Malaysian Customs Department, was not under the purview of his ministry.

Hishammuddin hari ini berkata tiada sebarang konflik kepentingan (conflict of interest) dalam pemberian kontrak ini kerana Jabatan Kastam bukan di bawah kementeriannya.
“He (Haris) did not receive any contract from any of the ministries that I was, or am, in charge of.“So the issue of conflict of interest does not arise,” he said in Parliament today.
